Gamification
I recently came across this word in a meeting. The presenter was pressing the need to make things more interesting for our customers with the gamification process. It basically means to simplify and engage the target audience to motivate them and allow them to ease in. It is based on the fact that most of us are familiar with games and we could use elements and features from games in other aspects of life such as studies, sales, training staff, engage customers etc.
For instance, a reward or incentives for participation or when a level is achieved. Another example is Loyalty programs that is widely in use. I see banks pushing Credit Card sales by giving offers of cashback and weekly movie tickets, one more gamification process in place.
Right gamification mechanics could make something tedious look interesting and achievable by bringing in the element of good feel and recognizing achievements. Just think Games and relate to the levels, challenges, scores and rewards you achieve as you go through it.
